Now, the hotel is taking another element of your daily routine and turning into something far more extravagant: a cappuccino made with real 24-carat gold.

The Ultimate Gold Cappuccino is on offer at the Sahn Eddar lounge, which is located in the hotel’s atrium. The coffee is made using 100% Arabica beans, which is then combined with foamed milk that’s blended “with a generous quantity of luxurious 24-carat gold”. The (safe for consumption) drink is then sprinkled with gold flakes and the Burj Al Arab design.

If that doesn’t sound indulgent enough, the cappuccino is made with fresh, local organic milk, topped with gold sprinkles and Italian gold flakes. It also comes with a Grand Cru Guanaja: or a chocolate marshmallow that is sprinkled with mill-grinded gold. The whole experience is served up on a set of fine-bone china, finished with gold. If you’re wondering whether this will set you back more than your usual morning cup of coffee, then the answer is likely yes – it costs 95AED, or about US$26 (£20).
